How to change the difficulty level in Sons of the Forest
Since the difficulty levels can be very different from what you expected, there may come a time when you want to change it without affecting your progress. Unfortunately, the game does not allow you to change it in the middle of the game. Luckily, with this workaround, you should be able to change the difficulty level in Sons of the Forest:
- You need to start by going to the directory where your game is saved. To do this, follow this path −
- “C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\Endnight \SonsOfTheForest\Saves \Multiplayer/Singleplayer (session id)”.
- At this location, you need to find the GameSetupSaveData.json file and open it with Notepad. Before opening it, we recommend that you keep a backup copy of this file in case something goes wrong.
- There will be a bunch of codes here, and you need to find your difficulty mode. Let’s say for example you started the game in Peaceful mode, look for Peaceful in the code bar.
- Once you find it, replace Peaceful with the game level you want to play and then save the file.
- Finally, do the same for the GameStateSaveData.json file and then run Sons of the Forest.
