How to Find and Save the Moon Calf in Hogwarts Legacy

During the Elf, Nab-Sack and Loom quest in Hogwarts Legacy, Dick will ask players to save the mooncalf. While saving the previous beasts (Puffskein and Jobberknoll) will be very easy, some may get stuck trying to find this elusive creature. For many players, this beast will not be present even where the game marks its location. If mooncalves aren’t showing up for you, here’s what you need to do to catch them.

How to save a mooncalf in Hogwarts Legacy

If you can’t find the moon calf in the game, chances are you’re looking for it during the day. As Dick mentions during the quest, you should only visit the area marked in purple on the minimap at night. Even at night, you may have to wait a bit for these cute creatures/beasts to show up and start walking around. You can go and do your other tasks and follow the day/night cycle while you’re at it. As soon as night falls, return to the location marked on the map with the broom and you will see moon calves hanging out in a group.

Once they spawn, the next steps are the same as catching other beasts. Make sure the Neb Bag is assigned to the spell slot and use this button to trap the creature. If you want to make the process easier, use Levioso to make them swim and then catch them.
