While it’s because they care about us, it would be better if there was a way to let them know our whereabouts without phone calls.

And since your data is so valuable, you should only trust an app or service from a good brand. Here is Wondershare Geonection, the information sharing app I have used, reviewed and highly recommend!
What is a location sharing tool and why should you use it?
Location Sharing, as the name suggests, is a tool/app that allows you to share your location with friends, family, or someone close to you. There are many occasions where a location sharing app like Wondershare Geonection can be helpful.
Family
- Parents can set home and school location circles to make sure their children get to or leave school safely.
- Get live updates on family members who have gone on a long journey.
- You can also use this app to keep your family members driving safe.
- You can check on older people in and around your household to make sure they’re safe by viewing their location history and current location data.
- You can also check if the member’s phone is active and has enough battery power to contact them if you want.

How to Use Wondershare Geonection on Your iPhone or Android
Once you install the app from the App Store or Play Store, it’s very easy to use. Open the app and follow the instructions to sign in. (Note: On your iPhone, you need to give permission for location services, push notifications, and motion sensors.)
After logging into the app, a circle is created by default. The circle is where the location of other information is reported. Initially, the circle will expire after 3 days, but you can make it permanent.
But what now? What else can you do with the app? Read on and find out.
Create a new circle
Although a circle is created by default, you can still create new circles. Here’s how:
- Open the Geonection app on your iPhone.
- Tap the drop-down menu at the top middle.
- Here, click “Create Circle”.
- Name the circle.
- Now select “Permanent Circle”or “3-Day Circle”.
- Click Create.
Now you can share the invitation code with the members you want to add. To share the code, click “Invite People”.
Invite people to your circle
You can invite people during or after the circle is created. Here’s how:
- Tap the profile icon in the top left corner.
- Select Circle Settings.
- Click Circle Members.
- Select Add new member.
- You will now see the Invite People page where you can share the code.
Now that we know how to create a circle and invite people, it’s time to learn how to join it. Here’s how to do it:
If you are opening the app for the first time, you can click “Join Circle”and enter the code. But if you want to join the group later, here’s what you need to do.

- Tap the dropdown menu at the top.
- Select Join Circle.
- Enter a code. You can also scan the QR code.
After you enter the code, you will see a confirmation. Click “OK”to complete.

Now that we know how to create a circle and then invite/join it, let’s see how to manage these circles.
To switch between circles, tap the drop-down menu in the center and select the circle you want to switch to. Another feature that I liked about Wondershare Geonection is that you can disable location sharing if you wish:
- Open your profile and click Circle Settings.
- Select Location Sharing.
- If you want to stop sharing your location, select Hide Location.
In addition, the app allows members to leave the circle any time they want, ensuring that you can only share the location with your content.
Is Wondershare Geonection Worth Considering?
I had quite high expectations from Wondershare as all of their previous products have impressed me. And with Geonection Wondershare continues to work. From installation to use, the app is easy to use, has a good user interface and easy to find menu items.
With this app, you can get the exact location of circle members and how fast they drive their cars. This is a nice feature; it helps your loved ones warn you of speed limits. There is even an option to view the map between regular or satellite view.
The Check-in feature impressed me the most. I have to call my parents when I come to the office and when I leave, which I forget almost every day. For people like me, this app helps me update them with just one click. Or even if I forget, they can easily check and make sure I got there safely.
Also, the app can only track your location if you want it to. This means you can easily stop sharing your location whenever you want, or better yet, exit the circle and leave the circle whenever you want. But keep in mind, the administrator will be informed that you have left the circle. However, I liked this approach to privacy.
Shared data will be fully encrypted, so you know that only the people you need have access to your data, and not anyone else.
There is room to grow
While I was impressed with Geonection in general, there are still some things I would like to improve in future updates.
Even though it was mentioned that the SOS feature would be rolled out soon, it should have been implemented along with the app. This would be a great help to users during emergencies. I hope this feature becomes available pretty soon.
Also, I would like to be able to revert the permanent circle back to a 3 day circle as sometimes the use case can only be for a few days. If an admin forgets to delete a group, they can still see other members’ updates.

You can get a 3-day trial and upgrade to a premium plan that starts at $4.99 per month. For the price, Geonection offers good value for money with rich features and data encryption. I would even recommend this app to those who are looking for a GPS location tracker.
