Here’s how you can get the job done and take advantage of the held item:
- Open your party and choose a Pokémon from it.
- If you have already transferred this Pokémon to a holding item, press ZL to change the held item.
- From there, you can select an item for that Pokémon from your bag.
Also, if your Pokémon isn’t holding an item, just follow these steps.

- During gameplay, press the X button on your controller to open the menu.
- Next, press the A button to select your current Pokémon and highlight it
- Now go ahead and select Deposit Item.
- You can now select an item for the selected Pokémon from the list.
