Discord is the most popular online communication platform for digital developers, influencers, and especially gamers. It has over 250 million active users. That’s because it’s free, very user-friendly, and almost never runs into problems.
You can set up your own private Discord servers for your team. To spice things up, you can even add bots to them. Voice and video calls are available on these servers. Did you know that on the server you are on you can share your screen? Members of your server can watch your screen in real time.
This feature comes with the main Discord app and is completely free. This article will tell you why and how to start streaming and share your screen on Discord.
Note. The app screenshots in this article are from the latest version of the Discord desktop client for Windows 10.

- Many games have giant Discord servers where players form a community to share information and even fix bugs. This is a kind of technical support for the game.
Ten people, including you, can share your screen at the same time on the Discord server. There are a few things you need to do before sharing your screen on a Discord server.
1. Voice and Video Settings for Screen Sharing in Discord
Before you can provide the best output on Discord screen sharing, certain settings need to be applied. This also applies to video chat/video call and voice call through the app.
- Open user settings. It’s the gear icon at the bottom left of the window, next to your username and tag.
- On the left side of the screen, you will see a list of options in sections. In the Application Settings section, click Voice and Video.
- In the voice settings, you can check the voice input and output. You may have sound problems if the settings are incorrect. Run a microphone test if you like. Especially when you have two or more displays, this is where you will have to troubleshoot the audio issues that will inevitably arise. You can also set up a trigger for voice input.
- In the video settings, you can adjust the webcam settings if you want to be in the frame. You can even run a test if you like.
- Other options such as noise reduction, echo cancellation, attenuation, and voice diagnostics are found in the same section. You can change them if you like.
2. Screen Sharing on Discord Voice Channel Server
It’s easy to share your screen on a Discord server. Do it
- You must be a member of the Discord server. Ask your friends to invite you or click on the invite link.
- Join the server’s voice channel. On the left you will see text and voice channels. Discord servers can have more than one channel. Tap on the voice channel you want to share your screen with. This will add you to that voice channel.
- Once you join it, you will see a Screen button on the bottom left side of the window. It’s the “Share Your Screen”option. Click here.
- Select the app or screen you want to cast to your server from the window that appears.
- After you select an app or screen to share, you’ll see additional settings that you need to set up before you can start streaming to your server. You must select the resolution and frame rate of the live stream. You need Discord nitro to stream at better resolutions and higher frame rates.
- When you’re done, click the Go Live button.
You will start the live broadcast without delay. You can configure your Discord screen sharing settings while screen sharing.
Even when you share your screen video on a Discord server, you can make multiple changes to your stream without interrupting it. You can even make a voice or video call to your friends on the server without stopping your Discord screen sharing. Once you start the screenshare, you will notice four icons that appear when you hover over the Discord window.
Click on the downward arrow on the monitor icon with a cross inside. You will see the flow setting. You can customize them the way you want.
4. Customize voice and sound during a call
You can also set up voice input and voice output on the Discord screen while remaining in the video stream. Click on the small down arrow on the microphone icon.
From the pop-up menu, you can choose which microphone will be used to receive vocal inputs and where the output should be received. Select the Voice Settings option if you want to change the audio setting. The Voice and Video window opens. Screen sharing will not be interrupted.
5. Additional Steps for Discord in a Web Browser
There are a few extra steps you need to take to share your screen in the Discord browser client because the Discord website is different from the app.

Or you can even use the Xbox Game Bar with the Windows desktop.
There are also other apps that you can find for free on the internet that will help you record your screen. As for sharing, you can share them via Cloud Drive, USB sticks, or any other conventional way. If your Discord keeps freezing during this process, check out our solution to fix the issue.
