Sons of the Forest recently added a hang glider with patch 01 and players are looking for places where they can find them. Using a hang glider is a good way to cover the distance and get from one place to another. The catch is that you need to be high enough to drop yourself. So, in this guide, you will learn how you can use hang gliders in Sons of the Forest to travel faster.
How to get a hang glider in Sons of the Forest

This game has several hang gliders scattered all over the map. But it is best to look for them in the very center, in the snowy region of the game. All of the locations mentioned below will have abandoned camps next to the gliders.
- Near the Shovel Cave: The cave where you find the Shovel is very close to the Hang Glider. Just head southeast from this cave towards the snowy mountains. You can follow the river path so you don’t get lost. Once you reach the slopes of the mountain, head towards the marked area and you will find your first hang glider.
- Mid Snowy Mountains: Another place where you can find a hang glider is near the center of the snowy biome. If you are coming from the east side, you can follow the river which stops in the middle. Keep following his trail and you should find him in no time.
- South of the Snow Region: A noteworthy landmark to get here is maintenance hatch B. Keep heading east from here and you should reach an area where you can find a hang glider.
- North of the Snow Region: As in the previous location, you can easily get this glider if you are near maintenance hatch C. From the dig site, just head southwest and you will reach the hang glider location.
There are other locations in the game where hang gliders can be found. But the above 4 are the most visible and the easiest to get to.
How to use hang gliders
You need to run and jump off a cliff or any other high enough height to use a hang glider to fly. Don’t worry, the process is quite simple. Here is how you can do it:
- Go to any of the above places and buy yourself a hang glider.
- Hang gliders are usually on higher ground, but if possible find a higher spot to jump off.
- Equip the hang glider and start running, then press the jump button to jump off the cliff.
- Press the jump button again while in the air to start hovering.
- That’s it, you are now flying your hang glider!
The controls are inverted by default, so when you move the mouse up, your player should start diving down. If you fail to jump from a high enough place, you will simply fall and lose your hang glider. Don’t worry though, it will fall nearby so you can easily pick it up again.
