One of the Dredge goals you get from the research assistant is to collect all the samples. This is a side quest you can complete to help her deal with the giant creature that is causing trouble. So here is a short guide on where you can find each of these specimens and the reward you will get from this quest.
How to Collect All Samples for a Researcher in Dredge
You need to catch a total of 7 fish so that the researcher can collect their samples. And this goal is divided into two stages. You collect 3 fish first, and the remaining 2 in the next step. Fish you need to catch:
- Phase 1
- Jellyfish Aurora: Fish at night in the Star Pool. Use a trawl net for this.
- Firefly Squid: Fish at night in the Star Pool. Use a trawl net for this.
- Glowing Octopus: Catch at night in the Star Pool. Use a fishing rod for this.
- Phase 2
- Anglerfish: Fish day or night in Deepspots. Use a fishing rod for this.
- Giant Amphipod: Catch it in bottomless spots. Use a fishing rod for this.
- Lost Jaw: Catch him in the Troubled Waters of Hadal. Use a fishing rod for this.
- Snail Fish: Catch it in the restless waters of Hadal. Use a fishing rod for this.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Talk to the Research Assistant to receive this quest. You can find her in the Old Keep in the Star Pool.
- Then go and catch the Aurora Jellyfish, Firefly Squid and Glowing Octopus.
- Return to the Assistant to give her the samples.
- She will then ask you to find the prototype part at the research outpost.
- Go there and take this item, then return to the science assistant to get the sampling device from her. You can now unlock fishing in Abyssal and Hadal.
- Catch the remaining fish mentioned above and bring it to the Science Assistant.
