Huawei’s first foldable smartphone with new hinge design is reportedly in the works

Back in September, we first heard that Huawei might be working on a foldable flip phone similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. Rumor has it that the Chinese smartphone and telecommunications equipment giant will launch a foldable flip phone next month, and it will be the first such a phone from the brand. Now, reports are emerging pointing to a new hinge that Huawei is about to introduce in its new foldable flip phone. This information has been confirmed by the smartphone hardware manufacturer and seems to be quite reliable. However, Huawei has not yet made any official comments.

Smartphone hardware company Zhaoli Technology has speculated that Huawei’s next clamshell-shaped foldable phone will have a next-generation hinge design. The company revealed that they have been working on this hinge for some time and Huawei is ready to release the phone. Huawei has launched quite a few foldable smartphones so far, starting with the Mate X and then the Mate Xs with some improvements in terms of design. The Mate X2 that subsequently arrived was a proper upgrade. However, these were phones that could be folded into tablets.

Huawei’s new foldable flip phone looks strikingly similar to the Z Flip 3 at first glance.

Now Huawei has changed its game plan and decided to move to a foldable clamshell. However, we still don’t know what the phone will look like, but from the concept images, we can certainly understand that the phone will have a design somewhat similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Since Huawei is going to use a foldable clamshell, there is a possibility that the company may ditch the front camera and use a secondary display instead. If this is done, the main camera can also be used to take selfies and make video calls. However, the video calling experience may not be as good as on other devices that use full screen mode.

At the moment we don’t know anything about the processor, RAM, OS and everything else, but we expect the phone to become a flagship product and Huawei is introducing a new foldable device. Oppo may also introduce a foldable device this December.
