Knowing how to defend your base is a must in Sons of the Forest. The base is important for security, especially at night. Not only is it hard work, but after a session of exploration, coming back and seeing that everything is gone or half destroyed is not a good feeling. So here’s how you can set up a defensive wall in Sons of the Forest.
How to protect your base in Sons of the Forest
To protect your base, you must build a wall of spikes around it. This spiked wall acts as a defensive wall. There’s a catch, though: you shouldn’t just build a full spiked wall in front of your base. Although you can do this, if you cover it from all 4 sides, it will be difficult for you to reach your base. Because you can’t jump over spiked walls. So, here is a workaround for this:
- Collect a lot of magazines. I suggest you also take the help of Kelvin to speed up the process.
- Then make a border around your base using these logs, then chop off the tops of them to add spikes to them.
- Make sure you leave space for at least 2 logs. This will allow you to enter or exit your base.
- Now place 4 logs in front of this space to close this border.
- Add spikes to them.
- Now every time you need to enter or exit the base, just remove the 2 front logs from here. And place them again before you go or after you enter.
The reason you need these 4 logs separately is for one important reason. During our playthrough, we were unable to place the logs in their original location for the border. This may be a bug that may be fixed in the future. So this extension of the border works like a makeshift door.
And the reason you don’t want to add doors here is because mutants can go through them. This would nullify the whole purpose of building a defensive wall.
