Run as administrator
If an error message appears, select the Close option. And exit the running Battle.net or Steam launcher.
- Navigate to the Modern Warfare 2 COD files directory.
- Right-click the COD MWII.exe file and select Properties.
- Then select the “Compatibility”tab in the properties.
- Check the “Run this program as an administrator”box and click “Apply”.
- Finally, click the “OK”button to exit the properties option.
- Follow the steps above and select the “Run as administrator”option for your launcher.
Then run COD MW2 to see if the error message appears.
Check your game files
Damaged and damaged files can cause such errors in COD MW2. Although several users have confirmed that reinstalling the game failed, we suggest that you verify or repair the game files. But before that, make sure Modern Warfare 2 is updated to the latest version.
If you are using the Battle.net launcher, follow these steps:
