Scream: Sixth Film Announced, Production Should Start This Summer

Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures have given the green light to develop a new Scream movie.

Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are returning from Radio Silence to helm production of the next chapter of the Scream license in theaters. James Vanderbilt and Guy Basik are already working on a new story. James Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak of Project X Entertainment (ER, Bed Rest) serve as producers, while creator Kevin Williamson and Chad Villella serve as executive producers along with Gary Barber and Peter Oilatagerre.

Writers James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery, Zodiac) and Guy Basik (Ready or Not, Castle Rock) say: “We don’t expect to be able to collaborate with our friends again on the next part of the Scream story.. We are very happy that we can continue to play in the sandbox that Kevin and Wes created. Scream is a long-running horror franchise that has spawned four feature films, including Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000) and Scream 4 (2011), directed by acclaimed “maestro of horror”, the late Wes Craven. The first four films generated over $600 million in box office worldwide. Scream 5 (2022) was also a hit after three weeks of running.
