A fan decided to recreate a kind of Zelda Ocarina of Time environment on the Unreal Engine 5 engine. Impressive realism!
If the design of the Zelda franchise for Nintendo has always been more cartoony, some are more so than others. And if the saga games don’t necessarily offer the most realistic graphics, we have to admit that they have a certain charm to them. This is one of the ingredients that has allowed many titles in the license to stay in the hearts of the fans and give them a great time.
Zelda Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5
That being said, what to expect if Nintendo ever decides to use a different engine to play Zelda? This is what the RwanLink designer wanted to discover on YouTube. Our man has recreated various environments taken from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time using Unreal Engine 5. And we have to admit that the result is amazing!
Impressive realism!
One of the advantages of Unreal Engine is the ability to create games that look very realistic. Ocarina of Time was released in 1998 before the graphics-enhanced Nintendo 3DS version was released, but when you look at this RwanLink-made version, you could swear you’re facing a video game made in the 2020s.
In the words of its creator, “As a fan who grew up on the iconic Zelda Ocarina of Time, I’ve always wanted to see what its environment could look like with modern technologies like 4K resolution and DLSS, as well as new Unreal Engine 5 features like Global Lumen real-time lighting and powerful Nanite, allowing me to work with cinematic quality elements. The first episode of this series is about the village of Kakariko, which I wanted to recreate to give my vision of the village with a new treatment.”
