Rumor has it that Xiaomi will launch the Xiaomi 12 series in December. The company may introduce a vanilla model later this year. It is said to be launched with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC under the hood. In addition to the vanilla model, Pro and Ultra models may be added to the Xiaomi 12 series next year. Xiaomi launched the Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra in March 2021 in China. The company is expected to unveil its next Ultra flagship around the same time next year. Meanwhile, some details about the Xiaomi 12 Ultra camera have been leaked. According to a new Digital Chat Station (DCS) leak, Xiaomi may be partnering with legendary camera maker Leica for its upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra.
Cameras Xiaomi 12 Ultra Leica
The launch date of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra is currently unknown. However, some details about the camera were leaked months before the launch. Tipster DCS uploaded an image on Weibo hinting at the launch of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra with cameras customized by Leica. However, the consultant deleted the message a few minutes after it was posted.
Not surprisingly, Xiaomi will partner with the camera maker for its flagship smartphone. OnePlus has partnered with Hasselblad and Vivo has partnered with Zeiss for its flagship X series. Rumor has it that Samsung will partner with Olympus for the upcoming S22 series. It is not yet known what role Leica will play in the 12 Ultra. The company may offer color customization along with lenses for Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone. The camera company has previously partnered with Huawei to launch the company’s flagship smartphones in China. It seems that Xiaomi will become the second major smartphone manufacturer from China to equip cameras with Leica settings.
An August 2021 report claimed that the 12 Ultra could have a triple rear camera setup with a 200MP main camera sensor. It will be accompanied by dual 50MP sensors for super wide and periscope zoom. The latter will support 10x zoom.
We can also expect the device to support at least 100W fast charging, if not 120W. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC. More details about the device will appear online in the coming days.
