Linus Henze says iOS 15.5 beta 4 will not be supported by Fugu15

Renowned security researcher Linus Henze on Monday updated the Fugu15 jailbreak support notes he demonstrated on an iOS 15.4.1 device last Thursday at the Objective by the Sea security conference.

In a tweet posted just this morning, Henze quoted a slide from his presentation in which he noted that iOS 15.5 beta 4 would be supported and said it was a mistake after he realized from his zsh history that he was testing Fugu15 on iOS 15.4 beta 4 instead of the former.

In a follow-up tweet, Henze clarified that Fugu15 will still support all versions of iOS and iPadOS 15.x between 15.0 and 15.4.1 and that “some beta versions of 15.5 are also supported”, although this may require additional offsets to be found.

The oversight was purely human error and should not have affected the general public in any way, as few people actually use jailbreak betas. Most jailbreakers prefer to use the latest stable firmware that can be jailbroken, in this case iOS and iPadOS 15.4.1.

Despite the changes, Fugu15 is still a significant breakthrough as it is the first jailbreak to support new devices capable of running firmware newer than iOS and iPadOS 15.1.1, which is the latest firmware that Odyssey’s upcoming Cheyote jailbreak will support. team.

Like Cheyote, Fugu15 will be a rootless jailbreak. Jailbreak tweaks will need to be updated to rootless dynamics before they can be used, which is one of the most significant reasons for all the delays associated with jailbreaking iOS and iPadOS 15.
