LiNUZE allows jailbroken devices to control non-jailbroken devices via a USB connection.

If you’re looking for a fun new way to control your iPhone and iPad on the go, then you might want to check out a recently released toolkit called LiNUZE from iOS developer rA9stuff.

As stated on the package description page, LiNUZE allows a jailbroken iPhone or iPad to control other iPhones and iPads via a USB connection. The control of these devices includes USB oriented communication such as Normal, Recovery and DFU modes.

For now, LiNUZE can be used to query information about a connected device and put said device into and out of recovery mode. Future features planned for LiNUZE include the following:

  • Hacking a connected device through DFU mode
  • APNonce Setting
  • OTA downgrade of compatible devices
  • Backing up and restoring backups
  • And more…

LiNUZE is said to support all iPhones and iPads running iOS and iPadOS 12.0-15.x. As for device types, their compatibility is the same as libimobiledevice.

Using LiNUZE on a jailbroken iOS or iPadOS 15 device requires palera1n rootful, as non-rooted jailbreak is not currently supported and it’s unclear if it ever will be.

It is important to note that while the host device that LiNUZE is running on must be hacked, the auxiliary device that you control does not have to be.

The use of LiNUZE in its current state seems limited, but as the project evolves and expected features are added, its use cases will grow exponentially. This makes it an exciting project to keep an eye on.

If you are interested in learning more about LiNUZE, you can go to the Havoc repository to read the description of the package. Currently, the package is still considered a developer beta.
