Lollipop Chainsaw: Dragami Games restores license and announces remake for 2023

Juliet Starling from Lollipop Chainsaw is set to return in a zombie slashing remake.

Several veterans of Kadokawa Games decided to found Dragami Games last May, while simultaneously offering themselves part of the activities and licenses of a subsidiary of the video game division of the media conglomerate Kadokawa Corporation. The first project of Dragami Games will be a remake of Lollipop Chainsaw on yet unknown platforms, although the release is already scheduled for next year. For reference, Suda51’s zombie-killing cheerleader action game hit the million-seller mark in ten years.

Games officially announced the launch of Lollipop Chainsaw Remake (Tentative Title) in 2023 .

July 5, 2022

“Due to various factors, fans can no longer easily play Lollipop Chainsaw and it has been a long time since gamers have been able to access the game on modern consoles. We, the original development team behind Lollipop Chainsaw, feel that the game is very valuable to us and we didn’t want to leave it in the dark so that players couldn’t access it. That’s why we bought the intellectual property of Lollipop Chainsaw from Kadokawa Games and decided to develop a remake. We have already contacted Warner Bros about development, and they support us in this endeavor,” says Yoshimi Yasuda, producer at Dragami Games. “One thing we have to say to fans of the original game is that while the original team is working on the remake, some elements will be different from the original. For example, There were fifteen licensed songs on the soundtrack of the original game, but unfortunately it’s hard for us to fit them all this time. Therefore, apart from a few tracks, the soundtrack will consist of new music. Also, since we have access to higher spec consoles, we will be taking a more realistic approach to graphics this time around.”
