Best Alternatives to TweetDeck on Mac

TweetDeck for Mac has been deprecated since July 1, so Mac users need to find an alternative. Here are some options.

As of July 1, TweetDeck for Mac is no longer supported. Launched in 2008 by independent developer Ian Dodsworth (and acquired by Twitter in 2011), the app has many Mac users. For them, this is a real problem.

TweetDeck is known for its multi-column organization, live tweets, and quick alerts. This is a simple application but it works very well. If you’re having trouble cashing in on that loss, here are your options.

Tweeten

Think of Tweeten as the spiritual successor to TweetDeck. The app is based on TweetDeck and is actively maintained. TweetDeck users won’t be disappointed with fully customizable column organization and powerful notification features.

Like TweetDeck, Tweeten is very fast at both updating topics and browsing them. TweetDeck keyboard shortcuts are also present, and you have access to features like GIT search, scheduled tweets, and activity tracking. Tweeten is available as an app for Mac and Windows, and there’s even a Google Chrome extension.

Turn your TweetDeck site into an app

TweetDeck is not completely dead as Twitter still offers it through their site. It’s not as fast or comprehensive as the app and can get lost in many browser tabs.

If you don’t like having it in the browser, you can try making it an app. Browsers like Chrome and Edge allow you to do this – from the menu button with three dots, then “More Tools”and “Create Shortcut”. You can also use apps like Fluid or Unite.

Tweetbot

Tweetbot ($9.99) is one of the best Twitter clients for Mac. It’s well designed, well designed, fast, customizable, and offers columnar organization like TweetDock. Hover your mouse over the top right corner and you will see a floating blue icon. Move it to the right and you’ll have a new column waiting to be adjusted.
