While Apple typically keeps a few color options for its iPhone lineup year after year, the company has also set itself the goal of shaking things up with at least one color option at a time. The company will typically replace last year’s new color entry with another new color variant. And we will probably see it happen again this year.
Interestingly, we may get two new color options for the Pro line this year if the rumors have any say on the matter. And of course, since Apple has confirmed the September 7th event date to showcase the iPhone 14 lineup, it’s time to hear a lot more rumors about what to expect. Step-by-step dummies for the iPhone 14 Pro, which are said to be distributed in Asia now (via MacRumors).
These dummy models appear to show that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will apparently get not one, but two new colors: a darker blue than what’s currently available in the lineup, and a completely new purple. Along with the two new colors, Apple will apparently stick with the graphite, silver, and gold options.
The images were first shown on Chinese social network Weibo this morning.
Twitter user @duanrui1205 recently posted a video that appears to show a new purple variant in the sun. And, as has become fairly typical of some of Apple’s color options, the tint is only really noticeable depending on the light hitting it:

This video also showcases a dummy unit with an enlarged camera bump and a rumored relocated front camera. These details certainly line up with previous rumors we’ve heard about the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro.
There have been rumors in the past that Apple is going to adopt a new purple variant for the iPhone 14 Pro (and it could see a lighter purple color for non-pro models), but this darker blue hue is a new rumor as of right now.
