Google will release a fix for their Nest WiFi Pro routers. Farewell, reduced speed?
Nowadays, there are many solutions that allow you to enjoy a decent Wi-Fi network in every corner of your home. Whether it’s reliability, speed, or something else, there’s no shortage of routers or repeaters to keep you connected anywhere, at home, wirelessly. In particular, Google offers its Nest WiFi Pro system, a mesh network router that recently made the news for a very annoying bug. Indeed, the accessory sometimes does not offer the expected speeds.
Google will release a fix for its Nest WiFi Pro routers
Google will soon begin rolling out a software update to address an issue with the latest Nest WiFi Pro mesh router system. In a statement shared with The Verge, Mountain View says it is “investigating several reports of users experiencing slow internet speeds”while using the device. The American giant is “working to roll out a fix.”
Farewell, reduced speed?
On paper, the Nest WiFi Pro is capable of up to 5.4Gbps when connected to other Wi-Fi 6E compatible devices. However, shortly after the sale opened on October 27, some users reported on the Google Nest community forums that the Nest WiFi Pro was limiting the speed of some of them to 40-90 Mbps. In many cases, these same users could see their older Nest WiFi 5 products perform better in terms of throughput than the newer ones.
However, it should be noted that not everyone is affected by this slowdown with their Nest WiFi Pro. Google told The Verge that the problem primarily affects UK users on PPPoE networks. That being said, there have been reports of users in the US and other European countries experiencing similar performance issues.
