Mercedes-Benz integrates WebEx meetings into its new E-Class

Mercedes-Benz is integrating WebEx meetings into its new E-Class for video conferencing right from the car (when it’s stationary, for video, of course).

Mercedes-Benz has offered a closer look at the interior of its new E-Class with its chic dashboard. Really very successful! The electric car also packs an impressive amount of technology, including Level 3 autonomous driving and a range of apps that you’ll have to pay extra for if you need them. The car also seems very comfortable. Comfortable enough, perhaps, to make a desk on wheels out of it.

If this is your case, know that you are in luck. Mercedes-Benz has indeed partnered with Cisco to integrate WebEx audio and video calling, as well as WebEx AI-powered audio capabilities — everything you need to keep an employee on the job, in short. The collaboration was announced during last week’s E-Class event, with final details revealed during Mobile World Congress. “This partnership will help people do their jobs safely and comfortably in their vehicles,” the two companies said in a press release. Better than working in an office, at home, or even in a coffee shop? Everyone will have their own opinion.

In case you absolutely need to join a meeting while driving, which will hopefully be very rare, the companies offer “better noise cancellation”thanks to WebEx audio intelligence technology. Calls will only remain audio when you’re not parked, which makes sense. After that, you will have access to video streaming, AI-assisted transcription, content sharing, and even emoji reactions. The Mercedes Benz Car App Store will also have a WebEx app, and with in-car Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity, you don’t even need a smartphone to join a meeting.

This is not the first time that such an application appears in the car. WebEx is already compatible with Car Play, as is Microsoft Teams. WebEx is also available on select Ford models. If you really want to take advantage of WebEx meetings while driving the 2023 E-Class, you can do so when they arrive at dealerships. First deliveries are expected this spring in the US.
