UFL International Free Football Tournament To Take Place January 27 With Romelu Lukaku To Become Ambassador

UFL is an upcoming free-to-play football game that hopes to compete with the likes of the FIFA Football series and, perhaps to a lesser extent, eFootball (formerly known as PES). The game was first revealed at Gamescom 2021 and showed some pretty impressive visuals, presumably from the game engine, as well as small glimpses of the gameplay.

The UFL has just announced its next ambassador, Belgian star forward Romelu Lukaku. The Chelsea striker is an important find for the UFL as his name and brand will definitely give the game a lot of credibility. The soccer sim market has been dominated by EA and FIFA for a while, but lately it looks like the throne could be seized.

The gameplay opening for the UFL is scheduled for January 27, 2022, and the game is set to release on all major consoles. Although details are scarce at the moment, there is a lot of interest in the upcoming free-to-play soccer sim. Mainly because most FIFA Football fans seem to think that the free-to-play model at the moment might be a better fit for the franchise.

eFootball hoped to meet this demand with its own free-to-play offering, but the lack of excellence and production value prevented the game from lashing out at frustrated FIFA Football fans. EA has had some issues making its own products in the FIFA camp as the publisher has suggested that they may eventually drop the FIFA brand name from the series in the future, citing licensing issues with the football organization.

If all goes according to plan, the UFL will aim to offer a level of quality similar to EA’s football sim franchise, but in a free-to-play model. It will be interesting to see if the developers of Strikerz Inc. can fulfill their promise and provide a quality free football simulator.
