The Mi TV 5X has been officially announced and marks the next generation of smart TVs from Xiaomi to be launched. The new series follows the Mi TV 4X generation of smart TVs that the company has been selling so far, and along with the announcement, Xiaomi has also confirmed that the new TV series will be launched at the Mi Smarter Living 2022 event at 12:00 pm. August, 26th. The new generation TV will feature a number of improvements over the previous generation that have been teased on Xiaomi’s website.
One of the key changes to the Mi TV 5X is its metal frame, which will grace the narrow edges of the TV’s bezel. Until now, the Mi TV 4X series also had narrow bezels but was made of plastic. As a result, the switch to a metal TV frame marks the natural evolution of the Mi TV 5X. Other tantalizing features for the TV include Dolby certified surround sound, which is likely to be Xiaomi’s attempt to compete with the Chinese manufacturer’s latest Realme smart TVs that come with Dolby Vision and Dolby Audio certifications.
Xiaomi has also teased that the Mi TV 5X will have visuals that are “finely tuned and responsive to the environment”, suggesting the TV will have some sort of adaptive picture quality. It will also come with a new generation of PatchWall, the custom TV software that Xiaomi is uploading to its Mi TV devices. It will also likely feature Google Assistant’s hands-free voice recognition, with far-field microphones to recognize voice input. Xiaomi also says that the TV will come with “future specs”which suggests the use of a new chipset.
The Mi TV 5X is expected to be one of the many devices to be unveiled at the Mi Smarter Living 2022 event.
