Microsoft is introducing a new version of Notepad for Windows 11. The changes are numerous, and not just visual.
The Notepad application in Windows hasn’t changed much in all the years Microsoft’s operating system has existed. However, those who would appreciate that said app could afford a little rework after years of good and loyal service without change will be served. Microsoft just announced that a new version of Notepad for Windows 11 will be rolling out soon.

According to the official press release from Microsoft: “We are very excited to present the new Notepad for Windows 11, a version that includes a number of changes that the community will certainly appreciate! First, you’ll notice a completely revamped interface that harmonizes with the new visual design of Windows 11, with rounded corners, flak, and more. We know how important Notepad is to many of you in your day to day work, so we wanted this iconic app to be updated while still being familiar to you.”
The changes are numerous and not only visual.
Redmond has also announced one of the new features of this notepad app, namely dark mode support. In other words, if you enjoy dark mode on your computer and/or often work in low-light environments, you no longer have to worry about Notepad’s white background blinding you. This feature should be perfect for you.
There are also changes and improvements that have been made to the Find/Replace tool, as well as support for a layered undo action, a feature that Microsoft says has long been announced. The rollout of this new version of Notepad has already begun. If you use Notepad regularly, stay tuned, you will be able to use it soon.
