Mini Concept Aceman: Collaboration with Pokémon for an electric compact SUV

The automotive world continues its breakthrough in video games by bringing together the Mini and Pokémon brands.

Pikachu, the iconic Pokémon character, takes over the Mini Concept Aceman’s central OLED screen when the Pokémon-themed experience mode toggle is activated. Thanks to advanced projection technology, the animation also extends to the dashboard, front doors and even the floor outside of the concept. In an early animation sequence, the Poké Ball first appears on the OLED screen and then reveals a blue glow that moves impressively through the interior of the concept, from the OLED screen to the exterior of the concept at the front doors. In the second cycle, Pikachu first appears on the screen.

Mini and Pokémon collaboration in video

Stephanie Wurst, director of Mini, a subsidiary of the BMW Group, said:

One of the main characteristics of the Mini is a positive and future-oriented approach to individual mobility, as well as a distinctive vehicle design. Gamification will play an increasingly important role in the Mini of the future and offer our customers a unique experience. In collaboration with Pokémon (a brand run by The Pokémon Company, a company founded by Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures), the shared joy of the franchise allows two iconic characters who are perfect for each other to meet millions of fans.

Mini Concept Aceman, Mini’s electric future

The Mini Concept Aceman is not only the British automaker’s first all-electric crossover, but also the first Mini built on a dedicated electrical architecture. This means it’s not compromised by the need to try to fit electric motors and copious wiring into spaces originally designed to house combustion engines. This EV from Mini will run on the same design as the upcoming “classic”three-door Mini due to hit the roads next year, and will also receive a complete design update.

Oliver Heilmer, Design Director of Mini, explains:

The concept of an all-electric vehicle allows the design to be refocused on Mini’s traditional core values, namely the sensible use of space. This allows you to create models that take up little space on the road, offering even more comfort, more versatility and more emotions on board than ever before. In the interior of the Mini Concept Aceman, we have focused on a minimalist appearance combined with premium materials and warm colors. Digitization allows us to be content with a few controls and at the same time make the most of the experience on board, as the Mini does. The whole design is aimed at providing passengers with a holistic experience of the interior space.
