Myst is coming soon to a VR minigolf game, an opportunity to (re-)immerse yourself in this special universe.
Video game licenses exist in different ways. Almost always, franchisees have not hesitated to turn down franchises, sometimes far from the video game industry, sometimes always in this world, but in completely different universes. Today, it’s the Myst license, well known to puzzle enthusiasts, that’s about to land on something very different, a game of mini golf, and in virtual reality at that.
Myst is coming soon to VR mini golf
Myst, the classic puzzle game, is about to write a new chapter in its history, a very unconventional chapter, if you will. Developer Cyan Inc. teamed up with Mighty Coconut to create a Myst themed expansion for their latest VR game, Walkabout Mini Golf. The DLC in question will be released this fall and will be offered on Meta Quest, Steam VR, and future VR platforms.
The opportunity to (re) immerse yourself in this special universe
There will be at least 36 holes in this expansion, 18 for the easy course and 18 for the difficult course, according to Mighty Coconut. Also, according to a press release, this DLC will offer highly realistic physics with “iconic parameters and objects, as well as the spirit of puzzles and other puzzles of the Myst saga.”You can play Myst Fields alone or with up to four players to go on a search for 18 lost balls, a treasure hunt to find a commemorative club.
Myst, first released in 1993, became the best-selling game of the 20th century. Players had to explore the island, solve puzzles and piece together different pieces of history. It was undoubtedly one of the most influential games of all time, and its influence is still felt today in modern games like The Outer Wilds. Although the Myst remake was released not too long ago, it’s nice to see that Mighty Coconut is paying homage to their game, even in this unexpected form.
