Can I put Amazon Alexa in the bathroom?

Amazon Echo devices can be very useful around the home. Including in the bathroom. But where to put it? And what to do with it? We tell you everything.

Amazon Echo devices are very practical and can be found in unexpected places, such as the bathroom. Think about the times you wanted to listen to music while getting ready, or you ran out of shampoo in the middle of the shower and forgot to add it to your list. Alexa can help.

Finally, the hardest part is finding the best place to put your Amazon Echo. If you keep it away from toilets – to avoid germs and other bacteria – and water, Bathroom Echo comes in handy. We’ll explain why and how below.

Where is the best place for your Amazon Echo in the bathroom?

The first step to taking advantage of Alexa in your bathroom is figuring out exactly where to place it. You don’t want to have it next to a toilet because of the germs that are there, and you shouldn’t place it over a sink or next to a shower or bath so you don’t risk getting wet.

But then where do you put it? The best option is to mount it on a wall or ceiling. Make sure you have everything you need to feed him. Another option would be to place it on a shelf or vanity without a sink.

If you place it on a wall, choose a small echo like the Echo Dot.

What to do with Alexa in the bathroom?

1. Order products that are running low

Most of us remember to buy shampoo when we shower. But if you have an Echo in the bathroom, you can ask Alexa to buy it. Make sure voice purchases are enabled in the Alexa app – Settings > Account > Voice Purchases and turn on Purchases with Voice.

As soon as you see that you are running out of a certain product, say “Alexa, I would like to buy [what is missing].”You can also ask Alexa to add it to your shopping list so you can buy it later.

2. Listen to music and podcasts

You can listen to music from your phone when you’re in the shower, but what do you do when you don’t like the song that’s playing? Do you press “Next”with a wet hand? But it can be dangerous.

With an Echo in the bathroom, just say “Alexa, skip”and you’ll skip to the next song. You can also request a specific song – if you have a music streaming account with an active subscription -.

3. Set timers and other reminders

If you have multiple people sharing a bathroom at home, you can set timers and reminders to avoid arguments over room usage. Give each person a usage time and when the timer runs out, it’s time to clean up. If you’re using a reminder, say something like “Alexa, remind Sarah in 30 minutes that her bathroom time is up.”

4. Remembering his brilliant ideas

Some of our best ideas come to us when we’re in the shower, but instead of letting them disappear, tell Alexa to remember them: “Alexa, take a note”and the voice assistant will ask you what you want to write down. When you’re ready to listen to your note, just say “Alexa, read my notes.”
