Man finds iPhone lost at the bottom of a river 10 months ago but still in working order

We have often heard stories about how a mobile phone took a bullet and saved the owner of the device. And we’ve also seen a phone survive a fall of over 10,000 feet. Likewise, in the new development, the man was reunited with his smartphone after 10 months.

A British man who lost his iPhone 10 months ago in a river has found his phone, according to a BBC report. More importantly, the phone still works! 一 even after spending 10 months underwater. Most new iPhones are IP68 rated, which means they can withstand being submerged in fresh water up to 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes. But this could be one of those rare occasions where a phone can survive. Let’s take a look at more details about this interesting twist.

Facebook post helps man reunite with his iPhone

According to a report, Owain Davis dropped an iPhone into the River Wye near Cinderford, Gloucestershire, UK in August 2021. Back in August, Davis was canoeing (water sports) during a bachelor party. Earlier this year, Miguel Pacheco, another man who was canoeing with his family this past June, picked up the lost device from the river and posted it online after it dried. He did this to track down the owner of the iPhone.

Pacheco, the man who found the device, said he thought the effort would not be worthwhile because the iPhone was full of water. However, he still dried it out because he knew it could hold sentimental images of data. The person dried the device with an air compressor before placing it in an oven to dry. When he put it on charge the next morning, a man and a woman were depicted in the background, as well as August 13, the date the device fell into the water.

At this point, Pacheco couldn’t believe what had happened since most phones don’t usually turn on after being in the water. He then posted the images to Facebook and the post has been shared over 4,000 times. Eventually, Davis’ friends and his fiancée Fiona recognized the images and contacted them. It was eventually returned in working order to the original owner of the device. When the device was returned, Owain Davis praised Pacheco for his efforts to save the device and then return it.
