Sports video games today go beyond the mere simulation of one sport or another. Some licenses are so popular that these names should reflect the sport for what it is. This includes a focus on women’s sports, which unfortunately still has too little media coverage. What FIFA is already doing, for example. And it will be the first time in NHL history.
Sara Nurse, first woman to be on the cover of an NHL game
For the first time in its history, the next part of the NHL license will feature a player on the cover. EA has announced that Team Canada’s Sarah Nurse will be one of only two players featured on the cover of NHL 23, marking a major milestone for the franchise. She will join Anaheim Ducks superstar Trevor Zegras. Both are among the most talented young players of their generation.

Sara Nurse was a key player during the Beijing Winter Olympics. Helping the Canadian team to a gold medal after a “disappointing”silver medal in 2018, she even set two Olympic records for goals and assists in the same women’s tournament. She also became the first black woman to win an Olympic gold medal in ice hockey.
Trevor Zegras to be another headliner
As for Trevor Zegras, even if you’re not a hockey fan, you’ve probably seen him here and there in a sports video. He is known for always making very creative decisions, often scoring goals, as seen when playing lacrosse. During his first full season with the Anaheim Ducks, he scored 23 goals and provided 38 assists in 75 games played. This performance earned him second place in the NHL Rookie of the Year the previous season.
