With all the turmoil Twitter has been going through since Elon Musk took over, many users are looking to look elsewhere. Some have even done it already. Mastodon’s popularity has grown steadily since the American billionaire took over as Twitter boss. Shortly after the deal went official, Vivaldi became the first browser to create its own instance of Mastodon, dubbed Vivaldi Social. Today, the browser is announcing that it is integrating it directly into the menu bar of its desktop version, giving users a very easy way to view the posts of the accounts they follow.

Enough to allow this Twitter alternative to gain even more popularity.

This Twitter alternative has a lot in common with Elon Musk’s network and allows users to create short messages. Unlike Twitter, which is controlled by a single entity, Mastodon is a decentralized service based on an open source protocol. Users can create and run their own servers, instances that other users can join. Vivaldi Social is one of them. Instances communicate with each other, and people from different servers can subscribe to each other and see each other’s messages.

With the latest browser update, Vivaldi fans can now find Vivaldi Social in the sidebar, but they can add any instance they want. When they access an instance from this panel, it is displayed on the side as a split screen.
