Apple Airpods Max Headphones Will Get New Colors Later This Year Along With Price Cuts

It’s been quite a while since Apple updated its high-end (and world’s first) Apple AirPods Max headphones, adding new features or looks. The audio product released in 2020 remains the same until now. However, this year could be the year that the iPhone maker finally makes a few additions to its headphone lineup. While we’re already hearing rumors about the AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Max are expected to arrive in some new colors. The arrival could happen later this year as a mid-cycle update. At the moment, premium over-ear headphones are available in five colors: space gray, silver, pink, green and sky blue. In India, it costs 66,100 rupees.

A report on new colors for the AirPods Max came from Mark Gurman as part of the latest edition of the Power On newsletter (via 9to5Mac). While he hasn’t revealed what those new colors will be, he predicts that Apple could also lower the price of the headphones this time around. That’s because the headphones lack “lossless”audio support. Price relevance will be even less when AirPods 2 come with support for a specific feature.

May come with AirPods Pro 2

The new colors for AirPods Max are expected to arrive with the AirPods Pro 2 headphones later this year. It is not known whether they will appear along with the iPhone 14 line or on a different date altogether.

The AirPods Pro 2 has been rumored for months now. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new premium AirPods will feature a significantly upgraded wireless chip compared to the H1 chip on the original AirPods Pro. You can expect improvements in active noise cancellation, longer battery life, and some new audio-related features.

We expect the new device to have the same stem design as the original model. However, this contradicts Gurman’s previous claims that Apple removed the stock from this version of the hardware. It’s also rumored to be a slightly different charging case that could have speaker holes on either side of the lightning port.
