Overwatch 2, like most online team multiplayer games, is best played with friends. But many players who try to play the game with friends run into problems when inviting their friends. There can be several reasons why this is happening – let’s look at all the reasons and how to fix the error due to which you cannot invite friends in Overwatch 2.
Can’t Invite Friends in Overwatch 2 Fix
If you’re unable to invite friends due to a “different version”error, here are some troubleshooting tips. But if this is not the error you are experiencing, here are the possible causes:
- The servers are overloaded.
- This is a bug or glitch.
Whenever the servers are overloaded, players will experience various issues related to logging in, long queue times, no friends list, disconnection errors, and more. The hype around the game is huge, which has resulted in major server issues for OW2, so all you can do at this time is to wait until the servers are more stable. You can try joining games during off-peak hours or change your server region to see if you can log in.
If this is a bug, the fix that has worked for me and many other players is to simply restart the game. Close the Battle.net client on PC or the game on console and restart it. Open the Social tab and see if you can now invite friends.
And if that doesn’t work, check if it’s related to your internet connection. Also, make sure you and your friends are running the latest game patch. This is because they often provide fixes for bugs and crashes.
These were potential fixes for a bug that prevented players from inviting friends in Overwatch 2. If you encounter other errors during your play sessions, you can submit a bug report to Blizzard from this page.
