It’s usually pretty easy to uninstall apps on your iPhone or iPad. However, sometimes you may run into some unexpected issues and it can be incredibly frustrating. To help you, we have some proven solutions for you to try. So, if you can’t delete apps on iPhone and iPad in iOS 16 or iOS 15, here’s how to fix it.
Why can’t I delete apps on my iPhone and iPad?
- Applications that cannot be removed. You can uninstall almost all third-party apps and a few built-in Apple apps. However, you cannot uninstall core system apps such as Phone, Messages, Settings, Photos, Camera, Safari, App Store, Clock, Latitude, Health ” and “Wallet”. If you really want to get rid of one of them, you can hide them from view.
- Screen time restrictions. Did your parents set a screen time lock for apps, or did you do it yourself by mistake?
- Mobile device management (MDM) restrictions. If the iPhone is provided by your employer, school, or similar organization, it may have a specific profile that may prevent certain apps from being uninstalled. Contact the appropriate administrator for assistance. In this case, you won’t be able to uninstall apps if you don’t have administrator rights. So hide away and deal with it.
- Incomplete download – The app download stuck due to some error and now it is not enabled or disabled on your iPhone.

- Turn off Restrictions on iPhone
- Remove pending apps from iPhone
- Restart your iPhone
- Reset all settings
1. Disable Restrictions on iPhone
- Open the Settings app and tap Screen Time.

- Click iTunes & App Store Purchases. Enter your Screen Time passcode when asked.
- Click Uninstall Apps and select Allow.
Now go back to the iPhone home screen and try uninstalling the app. Now there shouldn’t be any problems.
2. Remove pending apps from iPhone.
Pending applications, also known as an application, are stuck with the text “Waiting…”under the gray app icon. To fix this, i.e. allow the app to download, make sure your iPhone has enough free space and is connected to a reliable Wi-Fi or cellular network.
Once the installation is complete, you can uninstall the app in the usual way. To abort this pending app installation and remove the app, press and hold the app’s icon and select “Cancel Download”from the pop-up window.
If you don’t see this option, keep tapping the app icon until jiggle mode is activated.
- On iOS 16 or 14, tap the pending app’s minus sign (if you see one) and then choose Delete App → Delete.
- In iOS 13, tap the cross icon in the app, then tap Delete.
3. Restart your iPhone
This is almost the right solution to solve this problem successfully. If you can’t uninstall apps, restart your iPhone.
You can use the buttons (as usual) or open the Settings app → General → Power off to turn off the device.
After a minute, turn on your iPhone and try uninstalling the app. You should not have any problems performing this action.
4. Reset all settings
Well, we’re in a pinch; if all else fails, reset all settings in the Settings app → General → Reset → Reset all settings. Once the process is complete, try uninstalling the app.
However, this trick will also remove all your saved Wi-Fi networks, settings, and password. So, remember this before proceeding.
