Netflix is reportedly working on a live-action Mega Man movie. Will there be success?
Mega Man was one of the biggest gaming licenses in the golden age of video games. The franchise is still played by many fans of the character, and we’ve had various remasters over the years. That being said, it looks like Capcom is now looking to reboot the series by turning it into a movie. And who, besides Netflix, will partner in this new adventure?
Netflix is reportedly working on a live-action Mega Man movie
If IGN’s report is to be believed, some of their sources have confirmed to them that Netflix and Capcom are currently developing a Mega Man live-action movie. The streaming platform has yet to go public with the matter, but Rockman Corner found a report about Supermarche, the film’s production company, that revealed a number of details.
According to the said post, “Henry, Rel and their own producer, Orly-Rose Strauss, have a very active development plan. Current projects include Capcom’s adaptation of Mega Man for Chernin Entertainment and Netflix, which they wrote and directs.”
Will there be success?
Either way, this won’t be the first time the idea of a live-action Mega Man movie has been put forward. In 2018, it became known that the film was in development and was to be produced by 20th Century Fox. This new report suggests that the project has fallen into the hands of US giant Netflix.
Netflix continues to expand its catalog of movies and series using more or less well-known video game licenses. You can mention the series The Witcher, Castlevania, Dota 2, Arcane and many others. Whether it will be successful is another matter entirely.
