Neuralink will showcase its achievements on October 31st. The Elon Musk-founded company is playing big, but rival Synchron can help.

Modern medicine has made tremendous progress in recent years, in particular thanks to on-board electronics, allowing the creation of ever smaller, more efficient and, above all, better and more advanced instruments. Prostheses and other implants, for example, can now connect directly to their wearers’ nerves. Neuralink is even aiming for a neural implant. The Elon Musk-founded company will be holding a demo soon.

Neuralink is finally ready to share its progress on brain implants with the world. Elon Musk announced that the company will hold an event on October 31st. The American multibillionaire gave no idea what to expect, but the latest major demonstration showed a monkey playing pong mentally. It would not be surprising to see such an example.

The company founded by Elon Musk is playing for high stakes

Be that as it may, this presentation could have serious consequences. Neuralink has yet to begin human trials, and the sacred Food and Drug Administration, which issues the necessary approvals, has not reported on the company’s progress on the matter. Most of the co-founders have left the company since its inception six years ago. Add to that an article from Fortune depicting a rather unhealthy work environment, and you realize that the company’s future could be at stake in this presentation.

Its rival Synchron can help

At least the timing is perfect. The move comes amid speculation that Neuralink may invest in rival Synchron, which recently achieved what is believed to be the first endovascular brain-computer interface setup in the US. While there are no guarantees of any deal yet, such an event could provide an answer to the question of Synchron’s possible involvement. To be continued!
