Studio Firaxis announces that it is working on a new opus of Civilization. A very pleasant surprise, which is accompanied by many internal changes.
More than six years after the release of the last installment in the series, Firaxis have confirmed they are working on a new Civilization game. The studio did not share any details regarding this new title, but simply indicated that Ed Beach is the creative director for this project. The latter has over 15 years of experience working on the license, including most recently as lead designer on Civilization VI.

Firaxis’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, recently shared a press release announcing a number of changes to the studio’s lineup. The latter’s director, Steve Martin, is leaving Firaxis after 17 years as president, a position he inherited from Firaxis co-founder Jeff Briggs in 2006. today’s Firaxis operations.
“I’m excited to continue the studio’s story, starting with the announcement that Firaxis is working on a new installment in the legendary Civilization franchise,”said Heather Hazen. “I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the best developers in our industry, and we’re committed to taking the Civilization franchise to new heights for our four million players around the world.”

Firaxis also announced the departure of Jake Solomon this Friday. After 23 long years, the designer who was one of the studio’s most famous employees for his work on the XCOM saga and Marvel’s Midnight Suns is leaving to embrace new opportunities. “I loved making turn-based tactical games, but it’s time for other equally brilliant people to take up this issue,” wrote Jake Solomon on Twitter. “My brain is boiling with a new dream. Its time to begin”.
