Samsung introduces the Eco Remote, powered by solar energy and radio frequency.
Even if our wireless electronic devices are ubiquitous in our lives today, they are still very far from a panacea when it comes to their use for a very simple reason: their autonomy. These batteries are often too small to go through the recharge field every day or a little more. Which in everyday life can be very frustrating. Researchers around the world are working on new technologies. Very interesting wireless charging axis. Samsung is clearly present in this area and is introducing the remote control today.
Samsung introduces Eco Remote
Samsung has just unveiled a new version of its solar charging remote that was officially unveiled at CES 2021. In addition to using natural light to charge the device’s battery, the South Korean giant explains that its latest Eco Remote can convert the radio signals of our routers to energy to always stay at the maximum battery level.
Rechargeable with solar energy and radio frequency
Using radio waves from our routers to recharge the battery is a very interesting idea, especially since this energy would otherwise be completely wasted. Several companies have already tried using such radio frequencies (RF) to charge devices in recent years, but this approach seems, at least for now, to be more suitable for devices that require very little power, such as a TV remote control.
There’s a solar panel on the back, which also has dedicated buttons on one side for streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video. The remote control is also made from recycled materials, which is fully in line with Samsung’s sustainability and environmental efforts in recent years. And if the Samsung solar remote was only available in black, a white version will arrive in 2022 to perfectly complement Samsung TVs.
