Netflix is wrapping up the Sonic Prime animated series. On the streaming platform on December 15th.
Netflix knows this, in order to attract subscribers, you need to play on all fronts. This no longer happens, depending on the platform, only through movies and series, but video content remains very important. Original productions, remakes, new content in cult licenses, everything is good, everything is interesting to reach as many people as possible. At the end of the year, the world’s most famous hedgehog Sonic will receive the rights to a new series.
Netflix wraps up Sonic Prime animated series
Nearly two long years after Netflix tweeted (and deleted) the Sonic the Hedgehog animated series coming to the streaming service, a release date for the series has finally arrived. The first season of Sonic Prime will hit the platform on December 15 and will offer fans at least 24 episodes.

In addition to the release date, Netflix took advantage of this announcement to show posters of many of the characters. Among them: Sonic, Amy Rose, Shadow, Knuckles, Rouge, Big Cat and, of course, Eggman. The company also took a fresh look at the series during its weekly show, Geeked: Toon-In, which aired live on its Twitch channel.
In recent years, the Sonic license has seen a very good revival, mainly due to two fairly successful films that were very well received by critics and the public alike. The third will be released in 2024. Last June, Sega released an updated set of four iconic Sonic games. And to wait for the release of Sonic Prime, fans can dive into Sonic Frontiers, an open-world 3D platform game that launches November 8 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Microsoft Windows.
