New Tesla record: over 422,000 vehicles delivered in the first quarter of 2023.

Tesla releases Q1 2023 shipment data and sets (again) a new record!

Tesla has shared its first production and shipments report for 2023. Echoing fourth-quarter 2022 results, the automaker sets a new record for deliveries but sadly falls short of Wall Street’s estimates. Tesla announced Sunday that it had delivered at least 422,875 electric vehicles in the first three months of the year. During the same period, the brand produced 440,808 vehicles, another record for the company.

Tesla releases first quarter 2023 shipment data

This weekend, independent analyst Troy Teslicke predicted that the company is still on track to deliver 427,000 vehicles in the first quarter of the year. The company’s final numbers represent a 36% increase from the 310,048 shipments it announced in the same period last year. This is also a 4% increase from the 405,278 shipments reported in the last quarter of 2022.

Unsurprisingly, the Model 3 and Model Y are the most featured vehicles in these deliveries in the first quarter of 2023, with just 412,180 units finding their owners through the end of March. In comparison, the Model S and Model X, the brand’s more expensive models, had “only”10,695 deliveries in the same time period. That’s down from the 17,147 Model S and Model X delivered last quarter.

and set (again) a new record!

It will be interesting to see how this latest Tesla delivery data impacts the company’s broader operations. In the first three months of the year, Tesla cut prices significantly on most of its lineup. For example, in January, the price of a five-seater Model Y dropped from $65,990 to $52,990, and less than a month later, to $54,990. Most recently, the manufacturer reduced the price of its Model S and Model X by $10,000. Tesla will release full results for the first quarter of 2023 on April 19.

Hi all. Tesla just reported 422,875 deliveries in the first quarter of 2023, a new record from 405,000 in the fourth quarter of 2022. Congratulations to the Tesla team.

My error rate was +1.2% for manufacturing and +1.0% for shipping. I’m happy with it. pic.twitter.com/uGEyxztQVc
