New DenyOnce Tweak Allows Jailbreakers to Prevent Sharing Their Location With an App Only Once

Apple takes user privacy very seriously, which is one of the main reasons why iPhone users see so many different prompts asking if they want to share their personal data with apps that request it. Among them is the location, which some applications may need more than once with varying degrees of accuracy.

One option that was noticeably missing from Apple’s iPhone location usage hint, which you’ll find in the image above, is the ability to deny location access just once. Currently, the prompt lets you allow your location only once, allow it only when using the app, or deny it completely, but a new free DenyOnce tweak from iOS developer Avangelista adds a new option to ignore an app’s location access request only once. so it will prompt you again in the future.

Above you will see the new prompt that appears after installing DenyOnce. A new popup will ask you if you want to reply (view Apple’s default set of options for responding to a location request) or ignore the request for now (prevents the popup from responding to a location request until next time). you are using the app).

Niche situations where this option would be useful come up more often than I can count on the fingers of one hand, so I’m very excited about this setup. And I’m not the only one; DenyOnce was created due to a request thread posted to /r/jailbreak last night by Reddit user burkybang.

Talk about a great lead time!

According to the developer’s own comments in the DenyOnce release message at /r/jailbreak, the tweak was “built very quickly”and has “opportunity for improvement”as far as the user interface is concerned. We tend to agree with this sentiment, as we would like to see an option added to Apple’s location service request menu that literally says Deny once instead of a separate popup. However, the tweak does what it’s supposed to do.

DenyOnce is available from a Google Drive link provided by the developer and can be manually installed using Filza or a supported package manager application such as Sileo. It looks like the tweak supports jailbroken iOS 14 devices.

Do you think this is a good idea and would you like the user interface to be improved? Be sure to let us know in the comments section below.
