There is a new Roblox death sound, and fans of the OG platform did not like this change. Why did this happen and is there a chance that the original sound will return? Here are the answers you are looking for.
New sound of death Roblox 2022
If you were a fan of the original “Ugh”sound you hear when you die or reload in a Roblox game, now you hear “ah!”types. It sounds much weaker and less impressive than Oof. Check it out below.
And if you’re missing the loud and sudden “whoosh”sound that’s become a meme, here’s some nostalgia for you.
Why did Roblox remove the original death sound?
The answer is simple and clear – it’s a matter of licensing. Basically, one of the challenges Roblox has taken on as part of their roadmap is sound ownership. For years we have heard copyrighted sound effects and music in Roblox, but this has changed. Developers can now add sounds by getting them directly from creators and licensors. So, due to a licensing issue, they removed the oof sound from Roblox and the default sound was launched instead. If you don’t have it yet, it will appear soon.
They tweeted that “We plan to expand our avatar store with a range of both old and new sounds in the future. There will be more on that,”so let’s see if this particular sound comes back in a different form.
Here is a Roblox announcement about the same:
In terms of sounds, due to a license issue, we’ve removed the “oof”sound from Roblox and created a default sound instead, which is launching today. In the future, we plan to expand our avatar store with a range of old and new sounds. More on that.

Who made the original OOF death sound?
Tommy Tallarico, an American video game music composer, sound engineer, and musician, is the original creator of the now-retired Roblox oof death sound. The sound was first used in a game called Messiah, and when the creator found out about its use in Roblox, he collaborated with Roblox. After that, if someone wants to use sound in their experience, they will have to pay a small amount. But there seem to be licensing issues, so fans won’t hear it on the platform anymore.
While regrettable, any change is disappointing at first. Who knows, maybe soon everyone will get used to the new death sound. But the original OOF will forever remain in our hearts. End of an era.
