2021 has been quite a successful year for BGMI esports, with tournaments such as the iQoo Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BMIS) garnering some pretty impressive numbers in terms of audience. To keep that momentum going, Krafton just unveiled a roadmap for BGMI esports in 2022.
In total, Krafton will host 4 major tournaments in 2022 with a total prize pool of Rs 6 crore. We’ll start with BMOC – Open Challenge, followed by BMPS (Pro Series) Season 1, after which we will finally have BMIS – India Series, the second iteration of the tournament.
Registration for the BMOC (Open Challenge) will begin at the end of February, and in-game qualifiers will take place at the end of March.
Krafton Confirms 4 Major BGMI Esports Tournaments for 2022
The prize pool for BMPS Season 1 and Season 1 will be Rs 2 crore. every. According to Crafton, this will be the largest prize pool for a single esports event in India. This only proves that Krafton is serious about building a solid base for esports in India when it comes to BGMI.
BMIS 2021 was a great success, with each stage attracting a large audience and showcasing some of the best competitive BGMI games have ever seen. Eventually, Skylightz Gaming became the inaugural BGMI India Series champions.
Crafton also shared some of the most impressive numbers from the BGMI India Series 2021, which peaked at over 493,000 concurrent viewers. The tournament as a whole has amassed over 200 million views, which is a big achievement for an esports tournament in India.
Capitalizing on this wave of momentum, Krafton will look to provide the esports audience with a variety of tournaments of all kinds. It will be interesting to see how things pan out at the BMOC, which kicks off in just a few weeks.
