A sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife is in development.
Sony Pictures Entertainment isn’t afraid of ghosts and in particular making more Ghostbusters films, despite fans’ fears that they’ll always be swimming in fanservice rather than making new creations. So, as part of CinemaCon 2020, a fifth film was confirmed to be in development, with no mention of the technical team, including the return of director Jason Reitman or some of the cast.
The latest film, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which focuses on the grandchildren of Dr. Egon Spengler, grossed $129.3 million at the domestic box office and $197.3 million worldwide after its Thanksgiving release, bringing the franchise to a total of $938.. 2 million dollars.

Set thirty-two years after the events of Ghostbusters 2, Ghostbusters: Afterlife tells the story of a single mother and her two children who move to a farm in Oklahoma. They quickly discover they have connections to the original Ghostbusters and the secret legacy left behind by their grandfather, Egon Spengler.
