The OnePlus 10R is in development and the company is gearing up to launch the device with MediaTek SoC in countries like China. Last year, OnePlus’ plans underwent a major change as some of the company’s divisions began a merger with Oppo. The company launched the OnePlus 9 series with three devices: OnePlus 9 Pro, 9 and 9R in March 2021.
OnePlus 9R was exclusive. Later that year, the company launches its flagship T-series phone, it didn’t announce any new phone in the global market, instead the OnePlus 9RT was introduced in China. Now that the OnePlus 10 Pro has been launched in China, the company is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 10 series, including the OnePlus 10R. A new Android Central report has confirmed some of the specs of the upcoming OnePlus 10R.
OnePlus 10R will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity SoC.
According to a report from Android Central, the OnePlus 10 Pro, 10, and 10R will launch globally early in the second quarter. While previous leaks have suggested that OnePlus 10 will feature the Dimensity 9000 SoC, a new report confirms that the OnePlus 10R is the device that will ship with the Dimensity 9000 processor. The 10R will be the brand’s second device to feature the Dimensity chipset, following the OnePlus Nord 2.
Dimensity 9000 is a chipset that competes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It is an octa-core processor with a 1+3+4 cluster based on 4nm process technology. The chips have a peak clock speed of 3.0GHz (Cortex X2) with three high performance cores clocked at 2.85GHz and four efficient cores clocked at 1.79GHz. Also, since the OnePlus 10 and 10 Pro will also launch in the US, using a MediaTek chipset is not ideal as the Dimensity 9000 has a built-in 5G modem that lacks mmWave connectivity. As such, the OnePlus 10R will be limited to Asian markets.
As for the specs, the report confirms some of them, but none of them are surprising. The OnePlus 10R will have a 120Hz AMOLED display, at least 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device will most likely launch at the end of the second quarter of 2022.
