After a lot of hype, Lars Freuder (@opa334) has officially announced the official name of the Fugu15 Max jailbreak for arm64e devices (iPhone XS and later) running iOS and iPadOS 15.0-15.4.1, which he has been working on for the past few months.
In the tweet, Freder used a cryptic emoji-based “d👴🏻⛏️”disclosure that many fans quickly deciphered as dopamine, a play on Freder’s @opa334 Twitter handle.
A few hours later, Freder officially unveiled the Dopamine UI, built apparently with @sourcelocation:
The UI looks pretty good, but it’s just a mockup and doesn’t work yet. Freder said that the final user interface may still change before the official release.
Dopamine was called Fugu15 Max throughout the public beta period because it was largely based on Linus Henze’s developer jailbreak of Fugu15; however, Fröder put a lot of effort into fixing the Wi-Fi bug, implementing settings injection, building the user interface, and solving a host of other issues that needed to be addressed before it was ready for the general public.
Dopamine has yet to be officially released to the general public, however the Fugu15 Max 8 beta was only released yesterday afternoon in what Froeder came up with a “final public beta”ahead of the public release. ETA for public release has not yet been provided.
It’s worth noting that Dopamine is a non-root jailbreak, meaning that many root jailbreak tweaks from the past will need to be updated for the new dynamic. Many jailbreak tweak developers have already begun to get ahead of the curve by creating new jailbreak tweaks with rootless support and updating older tweaks to rootless support.
iDB will continue to monitor the development of Dopamine and will release additional news as it becomes available.
