Oppo announces new K-series smartphone on March 16

Oppo is gearing up to bring back the K-series devices. A teaser for the upcoming phone has surfaced on the company’s social media. A microsite for an upcoming Oppo smartphone has surfaced on Flipkart, confirming that the phone will be sold in India via the Flipkart e-commerce platform.

Oppo has been launching K-series devices in China for some time now. This includes devices such as Oppo K9x, K9s, K9 Pro 5G, K7x and more. Most of these devices are in the sub-$261 category, we can assume that Oppo could launch the K series in the same price segment in the country.

Oppo K series phone to be announced on March 16

The 12-second teaser posted on Oppo’s social media does not confirm any of the device’s specifications, design, or model number. It ends with the line “Get ready to live without limits on March 16”, hinting at the phone’s launch date in the country on March 16. However, it could also be the date of the announcement.

The Oppo K series is said to be geared towards the online market and could be aggressively priced. Vivo recently launched its new online-focused mid-budget series phone Vivo T1 5G as well in India. While Oppo hasn’t confirmed any details about the device’s specs or model name, we can speculate that it could be the upcoming Oppo K10.

Oppo is working on the Oppo K10 as the device was recently spotted on the 3C certification website with model number PGIM10. The listing states that it will support 80W fast charging. It is confirmed to be powered by the recently announced Mediatek Dimensity 8000 SoC.

However, it would be interesting to see what Oppo has in store for its audience with the return of the K series. The company launched the Oppo K1 and K3 a few years ago, after which it is now gearing up for the series’ return to the country. We should learn more about the device on March 16th.
