Telegram founder confirms paid features coming soon

Soon Telegram will offer a paid subscription to take advantage of additional features and increase certain limits.

Telegram’s unlockable features, which were previewed in beta last May, will soon be available to paid users. Telegram founder Pavel Durov has confirmed that the app is ready to launch a subscription called Telegram Premium, which is expected to launch later this month. While Pavel Durov did not reveal the specific benefits that this subscription will offer, we already know that it will offer additional features, speed and resources, as well as early access to new offers and features.

Telegram will soon offer a paid subscription

Pavel Durov explained that many users asked the service, in particular, to increase download limits. Unfortunately, making this possible for all users would seriously increase server traffic and costs beyond what Telegram can handle. The platform would then come to the conclusion that the only way to meet the demand of “the most demanding fans”while maintaining the existing free features is to offer it as part of a paid option.

The founder of the messaging platform also wanted to reassure users in a statement: Telegram will continue to offer new free features despite the existence of this free subscription. In addition, even free users will be able to take advantage of some of the new Premium features, including the ability to view large documents, media, and other stickers submitted by paying members. A previous Beebom blog report explained that Premium subscribers will be able to send files up to 4 GB in size and the maximum number of channels will be doubled. Among other things. Beebom also claimed that the Premium subscription costs $5 per month, but the launch date for this offer remains unknown.

Pavel Durov ended his announcement with these few words: “Although our experiments with advertising in one-to-many channels turned out to be more successful than we hoped, I am convinced that Telegram should be primarily funded by users, not advertisers. This way, our users will always remain our priority.”
