Overwatch 2: why was Mei removed?

It seemed like Overwatch 2 was finally getting back on track since its slow release in October 2022. However, bugs and glitches found their way again when another character was removed from the game. Previously, Bastion and Torbjorn were temporarily removed due to their buggy ultimates. Whereas Mei has been left out of the iconic list of 35 Overwatch 2 heroes this time around. If you’re a Mei fan and wondering what went wrong with her, then this article is all you need. Check out this guide to find out why Mei was removed and when she will return in Overwatch 2.

Why was Mei removed from Overwatch 2?

Blizzard has been under fire for months now for having more bugs in the game than its predecessor. One such bug occurred when Mei’s Ice Wall ability knocked other players out of the map. But from this location, players can still shoot and heal others without being seen. This bug can prove to be devastating as Damage Heroes like Sojorn or Genji can wipe out opponents.

[ #OW2 ] We’re temporarily disabling Mei to fix a bug with her Ice Wall ability that allows heroes to reach unintended locations. We are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible and aim to bring Mei back in the next upcoming update, which will be released on November 15th. pic.twitter.com/dHP65pMCsX

This issue was confirmed by the Blizzard Community Manager when he explained this bug on the forum. Also, Blizzard customer support tweeted the same thing. Like Bastion and Torbjorn, Mei will be returned to the dev workshop and repaired.

When will Mei return to Overwatch 2?

Mei will return to Overwatch 2 with the next patch update, according to Blizzard. For those who don’t know, the update should be released on November 15, 2022. Let’s hope everything goes well and we can play May again in the game soon.
