What is a rubber band in Overwatch 2?
Every online multiplayer game runs on servers that require constant monitoring. Whenever you perform an action, the game sends information to the servers. After that, the game receives a response from the servers and performs an action in the game. This information transfer is completed in milliseconds. This action can be anything like walking, crouching, shooting, etc. The estimated time it takes to send and receive data is called latency. The higher the latency, the more the game lags. Similarly, the rubber band issue is also caused by high latency issues where the player’s movement becomes twitchy. To be more specific, when the player tries to move forward, this issue causes them to hold back and they become a bit wobbly.
How to solve a rubber band problem
Here are some high latency solutions that will fix the rubber bands issue in Overwatch 2:
- Reset your router. Disconnect your device from the Internet and turn off your router. After that, turn it on after a minute or so and restart the game.
- Update your drivers. Right-click on the start menu and open Device Manager, where you will find network and video drivers. Update both drivers and see if the rubber band issue in Overwatch 2 is fixed.
- Free up, upgrade and clean up your DNS. To perform these steps, follow these simple steps: Open the start menu and type CMD. Next, right-click on it and run as administrator. Later, type ipconfig /release and press Enter to release the DNS. Second, ipconfig /renew and press enter. When completed, it will show that the IP address has been restored. Last but not least, type ipconfig /flushdns at the command prompt and press enter. This will basically solve the rubber band issue in OW2.
