The studios are taking existing concepts, adapting them in various ways, hoping to come up with a formula that players will love. Tamagotchis were all the rage in the late 2000s, a Niantic version is about to hit the market.

Peridot, the next game from Pokémon Go developer Niantic, will release on May 9th. The studio announced this recently. Unveiled last spring, Peridot is the studio’s first original game since Ingress’s second launch in 2018. Players will have to take care of their virtual pets – train them, feed them, take care of them, play with them and much more. -, points. Each dot will have a unique appearance thanks to a system that allows them to inherit a mixture of “genes”from their parents, according to Niantic.

Interested gamers will be happy to know that pre-registration for Peridot is now open on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Players who register and play the game within the first two weeks of launch will receive a special party hat for their points. Niantic has high hopes for Peridot and hopes to recapture some of the success it has had since releasing Pokémon Go in the summer of 2016. The last few years have been quite difficult for the studio. In 2021, for example, the closure of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and Catan: World Explorers was announced. Most recently, Niantic laid off 90 employees and canceled four more projects.
Let’s hope that now with Peridot it is possible to change the dynamics and that the players will react. Who knows, maybe in a few months everyone will have a dowry!
