Apple will be streaming its next hardware event to the masses on March 8 at 10:00 AM PT (1:00 PM ET), the company announced today. Invitations have already been sent out to the press, although the event will be another pre-recorded streaming presentation with no media present. Apple SVP of Marketing Greg Joswiak tweeted the now-familiar Apple logo teaser video that doesn’t actually tease anything.
We never know exactly what will be announced at any Apple event, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the lineup will include an update to the budget iPhone SE and the first iPad Air update in just over a year.
There have also been rumors of redesigned and new Apple Silicon chips for the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, as well as the high-end Intel Mac Mini, 27-inch iMac, and Mac Pro, all still powered by Intel chips. The characteristically cryptic “Peek Performance”slogan at least hints at new chips for one or more Macs, whether it’s the next-gen Apple M2 for thin-and-light laptops or the M1 Pro/Max-focused update for more powerful ones. desktop computers.
Apple’s past spring events have also focused on Apple’s ever-growing service business, as we’ve talked about before. The only Apple services upgrade I really want to see is a storage upgrade for the free 5GB iCloud tier, but the company has a number of other services it can focus on as well.
